Davis, Winfield Scott (1 Jan. 1871 - 30 May 1935)

Winfield Scott Davis, second son of the late Fred W. and Ruth Lee Davis, was born January 1, 1871, in the town of Grant. Here he grew to manhood, attending country school, Neillsville High School, and later attending Business College in Madison where he learned banking. He was assistant cashier in the Neillsville Bank for a number of years.

On March 25, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Ada Kimball of Neillsville, Wis. To this union two children were born.

In 1903, they moved to Granton, where he was cashier of the Farmers State Bank until is closed in October, 1929.

Mrs. Davis passed away April 4, 1918. In 1921 he married to Jessie Morrissey of Edgerton. They lived in Granton for a number of years, later moving to Racine, where he passed away, after a short illness, on May 30, 1935.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one son, Lawrence, of Stevens Point, one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Peterson, of Granton, five grandchildren, Jack, Betty, Jams and Rex Davis and Craig Peterson and four brothers, Frank of Neillsville, Trumon, of Granton, Louis of Denver, Colorado, and Hale, of Marshfield.

The funeral was held Friday at 1 p.m., in Racine, with interment in Edgerton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Rausch, Edward Schroeder, Hugh Berg, Chester Finnegan, Earl Marsh and Delbert Gardner.
