Boon, Walter Lee (18 Dec. 1880 - 16 Sept. 1951)

Walter Lee Boon, age 70, of Greenwood died at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield on Sunday, September 16, 1951, after an illness of two years.

Mr. Boon was born on December 18, 1880 in the Town of Weston to James and Louise (Hodges) Boon. He was a lifelong resident of Clark County, having spent his entire life on the farm where he was born.

Surviving Walter is one sister, Mrs. Pearl Syth, of Greenwood, and one brother, Pete Boon, on the home farm.

His mother died in 1930, his father died in 1916, and one brother, Len, died on July 1, 1951, and one sister also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgas Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock from the Christie Methodist Church. Rev. Virgil Nulton officiated. Floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. George Schaefer, Mrs. Henry Harder and Mrs. Fred Bucholz. The same three ladies sang two selections, accompanied by Miss Martha Bucholz. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were LaVerne Cutts, James Hughes, Frank Murphy, Lee Mills, Ed Johnson and William Laverence. Persons from out of town attending the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Boon of Waukegan, IL, Mrs. Pearl Syth, Mrs. Leona Syth, Mrs. Carl Stabnow and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Syth, all of Greenwood and Mrs. Fred Zais of Stanley.
