ARLYN MILLS JOINS FATHER ON C. C. HOSPITAL STAFF
At a meeting of staff personal at the Clark County Hospital Tuesday night Supt. Calvin Mills announced that his son, Arlyn will soon join them as an administrative assistant to his father.
Mr. Mills was offered the position several weeks ago but it wasn’t until two weeks ago that he announced his acceptance.
In announcing his son’s acceptance to the board Supt. Mills made the following statement:
I am appearing here tonight as acting president of the Board of Trustees. I only with the Mr. Whitney, who was a member of the board for twenty-one years, could be here, because this fulfills a dream which was his for some time.
It has been a concern of the board that there is a great need for additional administrative personal at this hospital. This has been discussed and talked about many times, but it was not until recently that plans started to develop and materialize.
The fact that Arlyn is coming here is not due to the influence of Mr. and Mrs. Mills but rather through the efforts of the Board of Trustees and the County Board of Supervisors. This hospital is undergoing many changes. New programs are developing, and it takes additional administrative personnel to handle this increased responsibility. The board was aware of this need and set out to find an individual who was qualified through training and experience who could accept the responsibility of developing these expanded and improved services. We are certain that we have found this individual.
It took a considerable amount of encouragement to persuade Arlyn to come to this hospital. With his education and background he could have done as well (and perhaps better) someplace else.
The important thing is that the board offered him the job, he has accepted, and we are very happy to welcome him as a member of an already fine staff of hospital employees.
An In-Service training program for hospital employees will be developed for which a federal grant is now pending, and approval is expected soon. Mr. Mills will develop and coordinate these services in addition to other duties and responsibilities.
The Board of Trustees wants to emphasize that this appointment will not result in a shift of administration at the hospital, but rather is an addition necessary to provide for an expanding and improved program.
He is a 1958 graduate of the Owen-Withee High School and is married to the former Mary Loris Lesneski of Withee. They have two children, Suzanne and David, and will make their home in Owen, Wis.
