Witt, Henry & Irene (50th - *18 Aug 1984) * the day could be off, see Harvey William Sr. Witt obituary.
Relatives, friends and neighbors helped Irene and Harvey Witt of Abbotsford celebrate their 50th Anniversary Aug. 18 with cocktails and a ham and chicken dinner under the supervision of Judy Klimpke at the Olde-Cedar House.
Several toasts were made by grandsons Harvey Jay Witt and John Hamm, their daughter Jean Hamm and son Harvey. Harvey’s twin brother, Jack Witt, was master of ceremonies for the program, with assistance from his wife Evelyn, Harvey Jr.’s wife Ruth and Jean Hamm. History and anecdotes from the Witt’s life together were related, along with a humorous recitation by Fred Lebeck of Marshfield, an 86-year old brother-in-law.
Gertie Becker, a longtime friend and neighbor, also told some interesting stories, and told the group that three couples in attendance, Harvey and Irene, Jack and Evelyn Witt and Otto and Gertie Becker, have all celebrated their 50th anniversaries.
Evelyn Witt’s remarks included a short poem on "Heart Gifts" and a humorous statement on "How to Tell You Are Growing Older." Other speakers were Darlene Devereaux, Marge Wredman, Harry Klimpke, Hazel Fahrenbach, Bob Schraufnagel, grandson Harvey Witt Jr. and John Hamm.
Fred Lebeck and Marian Steinke were honored by the group singing Happy Birthday. Guests were from Milwaukee, Green Bay, Appleton, Plymouth, Ames, Ia; Alexandria, Minn.; Chippewa Falls, Marshfield, Colby, Abbotsford, Owen, Curtiss, Loyal and Stetsonville.
