Greenwood, Henry (10 APR 1840 - 20 JAN 1899)

Died, at his home in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., Friday morning, Jan. 20th, 1899, of la grippe resulting in pneumonia, Henry Greenwood, in the 59th year of his age.

Henry Greenwood was born near Three Rivers, Province of Quebec, April 10, 1840; when about 12 years old, his parents being dead, he left home and came to the states and gradually worked his way to the Wisconsin River, where he worked in different capacities until he took up a homestead on section 26, town of Hull, in Oct. 1872, where he has since lived. He was united in marriage at Stevens Point, Dec. 1st, 1870, with Miss Phoebe Myhills, who survives him; this union was blessed with nine children, eight of whom are living; four sons, Albert, Paul, Anthony residing in the town of Hull, and Walter, who is attending college at Sioux Falls, S.D., and four daughters, Rosalie (Mrs. Wm. Seiber), in the town of Colby, Clark Co., Aurillia Jane, and Gladys, living at home, and all of whom mourn the death of a loving husband and a kind and indulgent father.

Mr. Greenwood was a man of quiet unassuming manners, scrupulously honest in his dealing with his fellow men, but on account of his quiet manners and ways his acquaintance had not become so extended as that of many, but those who had become intimately acquainted with him, esteemed him highly for his uprightness and honesty.

The funeral was held from the M.E. Church, Sunday afternoon, Rev. E.G. Vischer officiating.
