Pipkorn, Eugene Roy (1 May 1925 - 20 May 2004)

Sheldon - Eugene Roy Pipkorn, 69, Sheldon, died Friday May 20, 2004, at Rusk County Memorial Hospital.

There will be no services as was his with. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Eugene was born May 1, 1925, in the town of Beaver in Clark County, to Roy and Dorothy Pipkorn. He attended Oak Grove School and graduated from Loyal High School.

Eugene was married to Darlene Ledger, whom he later divorced. He then married Ione Sheets on Oct. 10, 1981, at First United Church of Christ in Colby.

Gene played baseball on the farm team of the Chicago Cubs and on some local teams. He fared in the Unity area for 40 years and worked at Wick Building Systems in Spencer for 19 years. In 1984, he bought a farm near Sheldon and continued to live there after he retired.

He loved to go camping, fishing, bicycle riding, snowshoeing and traveling. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Gene is survived by his wife, Ione of Sheldon; his children, Barb (Steve) Ponkratz, Diane (Jeffrey) Beidel, Cheryl (Rolf) Joansson, Laura (Steve) Kauth, Gini (David) Johansson, Tammy (Kevin) Smith, John Pipkorn, Brian (Lisa) Pipkorn, Andy Pipkorn; his step-children, DuWayne (Kay) Sheets, Michael (Tammy) Sheets, James (Debbie) Sheets, John Sheets, and Roger (Mary Jane) Sheets; a step-daughter-in-law, Diane Sheets; one brother Roy (Shirlee) Pipkorn; 14 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one step son, Jeffrey Sheets, and one sister, Shirley Fenner.
