Graves, Lutina (8 OCT 1822 - 8 FEB 1895)

Died, at the home of her son, A. A. Graves, Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., Friday, Feb. 8th, 1895, of general disability super induced by old age, Mrs. Lutina, wife of the late John Graves, in the 73rd year of her age.

Lutina Caldwell was born in the state of New York, Oct. 8th, 1822; on the 8th day of Sept. 1842 she was united in marriage with John Graves, who preceded her across the dark river, May 25th, 1888; with her husband she came to Wisconsin about 49 years ago, when they located in Dodge Co., their former homestead there being now the village site of Iron Ridge. In May 1866, they again took up the line of pioneer march and made their way to the present village of Loyal, where she has resided ever since.

She was a woman of rare good qualities, dearly beloved by all who knew or had come in contact with her, in the weary march of life; she was the mother of six children, four of whom are still living, and a more devoted mother children never had.

The funeral occurred at Loyal on Monday, and was conducted by Rev. I. N. Foster, whom she request some two years ago to do so.

The surviving members of her family are two sons, and two daughters, S. D. Graves of Spencer, A. A. Graves of Loyal, Mrs. L. R. Booth of this city, and Mrs. Hulda Hill of Oklahoma.
