College Notes (21 May 2014)

Ellen Smith, of Greenwood, has received a scholarship to attend Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. She is a recipient of the college’s Discovery Grant. Smith, a member of the 2014 graduating class of Northland Lutheran High School, is the daughter of Richard and Julie Smith.

The following students are late recipients of the fall 2013 Chancellor’s Award at UW-Stout:

Amanda Davis of Humbird is majoring in vocational rehabilitation. Davis graduated from Lincoln High School, Alma Center.

Kaitlyn Suda of Greenwood is majoring in psychology with a minor in human development and family studies. Suda graduated from Greenwood High School.

The award is presented to students who have a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above.

Elizabeth Hebda of Dorchester, student of St. Olaf’s College, Northfield, MN, was among those recognized for academic achievement (cumulative GPA 3.60 or higher) at the college’s annual Honors Day convocation May 2. She is a chemistry major, and the daughter of James and Dawn Hebda.

Victoria Jensen of Granton, a student at Carthage College, Kenosha, presents research at the fourth annual Celebration of Scholars May 2, during the college’s Spring Family Weekend. Jensen presented “The Role of Behavioral Inhibition and the Amygdala on Avoidance Acquisition in Rats.”
