Kren, Frank (16 February 1886 - 25 May 1972)

Funeral services for Frank Kren, 86, of Neillsville, who died May 25, were held Saturday, May 27, at 1 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Kren, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kren, was born February 26, 1886, in Austria and came to the United States at the age of 19 along with his two brothers. They settled in Milwaukee where he worked for the Harley-Davidson Company and for Gimbel’s department store. His marriage to the former Emma Karger took place June 19, 1912, in Milwaukee. The couple farmed in the Town of Levis until they retired in 1945 and moved to Neillsville.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include six children, Mrs. Howard (Anna) Strebing of Marshfield, Walter, Harold and Kenneth Kren of Neillsville, Mrs. Howard (Irene) Sager of San Diego, Ca, and Mrs. Darrel (Eleanor) Raine of Neillsville; and 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: John Boldt, Herman Dahnert, Charles Neff, Ernest Horehled and Allen Crockett. Mrs. Harold Mayer sang “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me,” and “Near the Cross.” She was accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Those from out of town who attended the services included: Mrs. Howard Strebing, Mr. and Mrs. James Raine, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hall of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. William Kastern of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Strebing and children of Colgate; Mrs. Dick Kren of Watertown; Miss Bobbi Kren of Eau Claire and Dean Amundson of Amery.
