Kaczor, Mildred “Millie” Ruth (18 June 1929 - 29 April 2014)

Millie R. Kaczor, 84, of Neillsville died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Mildred Ruth Meissner was born June 18, 1929, at her family’s home near Nasonville, the daughter of Ervin Simon and Margaret (Kaas) Meissner. When Millie was very young, she and her family moved to the Greenwood area, and she then attended the Janesville Settlement School, which was located on CTH OO, near the Black River. After finishing school, she and her family moved to Neillsville, and Millie began working. She worked at the Merchant’s Hotel, Becker’s Café, in the lunch program at St. Mary’s Catholic School, as a cook/waitress at Sammie Ball’s and lastly for Brian and Judy Schmidt at the White horse Restaurant. Millie married twice in her life, the first May 20, 1950, to Robert M. Zschernitz, with whom she had four boys. Robert later died March 26, 1971. She then married John Kaczor Dec. 15, 1979. John died Feb. 14, 1982.

Millie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. She enjoyed collecting cardinals, doing jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and traveling. Millie traveled to all 48 states of the continental United States; she also went to Hawaii and Europe. Millie was a great cook and she loved cooking up holiday meals for her family.

She is survived by four sons, Eugene Zschernitz of Algonquin , IL, Jim (Jeannette) Zschernitz of Neillsville, Dennis Zschernitz of Loch Lomond, CA, and Todd Zschernitz of Neillsville; two stepsons, Daniel (Angie) Kaczor of Neillsville, and Cary Kaczor of Neillsville; two step-daughters, Julie (Tim) Smith of Holmen, and Darla (Paul) Lang of Hewitt; four grandchildren, Robert (Tracey) Zschernitz, Lisa Zschernitz, Julia Zschernitz and Jack Zschernitz; eight step-grandchildren, Bryce, Adam, Dale, Kelly, Eric, Phillip, Matt and Beth; and many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Rosie Zschernitz of Marshfield and a brother, Gerry Meissner, of Menasha.

Millie was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Zschernitz and John Kaczor; her parents, Ervin and Margaret Meissner; a daughter-in-law, Charmaine Zschernitz; and siblings, Arnold Meissner, Hilbert Meissner, Lucy Wilsmann, Lorraine Sternitzky and Baby Mary.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial for Millie was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. Rev. Varkey V. Joseph officiated. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service at the church.
