Steevens, Maxine J. "Max" (25 MAY 1935 - 29 APR 2014)

Maxine J. "Max" Steevens, 78, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Colonial Center in Colby, under the tender of care of hospice. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 2, at Peace United Church of Christ, Dorchester. Rev. Patti Steevens officiated.

Maxine Kelty was born on May 25, 1935, in Greenwood, the daughter of John and Mayme (nee Haupt) Kelty. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1953. Max married Harvey "Bucky" Steevens on June 15, 1959, in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1990. Max enjoyed cooking, gardening, socializing and helping others.

Max is survived by her three children, Linda (Mike) Hraby, Medford, Lorin (Kim) Steevens, Oshkosh, and Lisa (Tom) Waldhart, Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Craig, Justin, Ryan, Ashley, Sam, Beth, Jake and Jenna; eight great-grandchildren, Zach, Alicia, Logan, Tanner, Rylee, Laney, Ava, and Owen; one sister, Carol Tapia, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Pitzke, Medford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mayme; her husband, Bucky; her son, Lonny; a sister, Ruth Ann Kelty; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Steevens and Jerome Steevens; and a sister-in-law, Gerry Firke.
