Stallard, Elizabeth Wilson (3 MARCH 1841 - 17 Feb 1903)

Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, 1903, death entered our village and bore from our midst, Mrs. J. T. Stallard, a lady known and loved by the whole community. She had lived among us for 36 years, and counted her friends by acquaintances.

Elizabeth Wilson was born in Yorkshire, England, March 20, 1841. Her mother died when she was but 3 years old. In 1851 with her father, two brothers, and four sisters, she came to Green Lake County, Wis.

She was married on Oct. 25, 1857 to J. T. Stallard, and lived in Green Lake Co., until the summer of 1866 when they moved on a farm near Humbird and have since resided here. Their union was blessed with 6 children, all of whom live to mourn her loss, and were with her on the last hours of being on earth. Her sickness was of short duration, being sick scarcely two weeks, and suffering no pain, she knew all her loved ones to the last. Thus after a brief illness, a kind and patient soul has passed to rest.

She was a model wife and mother, ever thinking and caring for those around her rather than herself. We are sad but in our grief let us remember that she is happy with the angles in heaven where we May again meet her if we follow the path she so faithfully trod during her stay on earth. Everlasting peace be to her memory and May the remembrance of her remind us of our mortality.

Deceased is survived by a loving and sorrowful husband, four sons: J. E. Stallard of Fairchild, Henry W., Frank, and Burton J. of Humbird; two daughters: Mrs. F. A. Shute of Altoona, and Mrs. A. S. Huyck of Fairchild; 3 sisters and one brother. The funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Episcopal Church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Hawley and Rev. Waldon officiating. The sorrowing husband and children have the heart-felt sympathy of the entire community.

Those from out of town for the funeral were: William Wilson, a brother of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Mary Lovejoy, a sister of Mondovi; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hobbs, a sister of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Charles McKinley of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. C. D. Fowler of Eleva, James Botsford, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Brewer, Mrs. Charles Washburn, Mrs. M. E. Tibby and son Elton, all of Altoona, Wis.
