Markham, Gilbert W. (1838 - 17 Sep 1906)

G. W. Markham died at his home at Augusta Monday, Sept. 17, 1906, after a short illness, brought on by an injury received a week or so before. The remains were brought here (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) for burial and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. G. B. Haskell. The interment was in the town of Mentor Cemetery. A large congregation gathered at the church in respect to the memory of a former townsman.

Mr. Markham was in his 67th year, having been born in 1838 in New York State. In 1862 he was married to Miss Milvina A. Harvey, and they came to Wisconsin, settling at Fairchild and making that their home for nearly twenty-five years. In the year 1892 the family moved to this village, where Mr. Markham engaged in various pursuits of trade and also in farming, until the early part of last year. Then removing to Augusta, made that his home until his death. The immediate family left to mourn his death are his wife, two sons and three daughters, Mrs. Hattie West, Mrs. Etta Beede, Mrs. Cora Gregory, Rolla and Herbert Markham.
