Pedersen, Soren C. (9 Jan 1868 - 24 Feb 1947)

Soren Christian Pedersen, age 79, passed away at his farm home in Withee, Clark County, Wis., early Monday morning, Feb. 24, 1947. Mr. Pedersen had been in failing health for several years. He was confined to his bed on Jan. 1 of this year.

Mr. Pedersen was born in Denmark on Jan. 9, 1868, and at the age of 16 came to America to make his home. He made his first home at Elgin, Ill., where he and his brother, James, organized a tiling and construction company, which they operated for several years. Later he moved to Buffalo, Wis., where he purchased and operated a dairy farm. In 1892 he came to Withee and since then has operated three farms in this community.

For several years he served as chairman and a member of the Hixon Town Board. He also served as president and director of the Withee Cooperative Creamery Co. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood of America and the Danish Lutheran Church of Withee.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Hilda, and three children, Carl and Elva Pedersen and Mrs. Glenn (Caroline) Brossow, all of Withee, and one brother, Jens, of De Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Burial services were conducted on Friday afternoon, Feb. 28, at the Danish Cemetery at Withee, with Rev. Bundgaard officiating.

Pallbearers were Chris Mose, Christ Christophersen, Peter Christophersen, Viggo Rasmussen, Soren Rasmussen, and Ted Mogenson.

Flowere bearers were Mrs. Christ Christophersen, Mrs. Andrew Smith, Miss Deborah Christophersen, Mrs. Herman Blunck, Mrs. Walter Blunck and Miss Leona Blunck.
