Elizabeth N. Lavey, 91, Neillsville Memorial Home, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1992, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1992, at York Center Methodist Church, town of York, Clark County, Rev. Steve Groves officiated. Burial was in York Center Methodist Church Cemetery, town of York. Pallbearers were Larry Schultz, Keith Eibergen, Joel Buchanan, Kevin Schultz, Alvin Dahl, and George Bixby. Elizabeth N. Johnson was born Oct. 6, 1900, in the town of York, Clark County, to Justin and Anna (nee McMahon) Johnson. She received her education at Romadka School. She then worked at La Crosse at a bakery. She married Glenn G. Lavey Oct. 31, 1925, in Neenah. He preceded her in death Oct. 12, 1987. She and her husband moved to Milwaukee. While there she worked at a department store as a clerk. They returned to York Center in 1926. They farmed there until 1955. After retirement she worked at Crothers Greenhouse and she and her husband owned and operated a nursery from their home until 1985. She was an avid artist. She was a member of York Center Methodist Church, community club, York Homemakers Club and ladies aid. Survivors include two sons, David G. Lavey, Granton; and Norbert L. Lavey, Nekoosa; one daughter, Mrs. Joan M. Buchanan, Nekoosa; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister. Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
