Alice Benedict, 98, Neillsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1993, at Neillsville Memorial Home, Neillsville. A graveside committal service was held at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 1993, at York Center Church Cemetery, rural Granton, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at York Center Methodist Church, town of York, Clark County. Rev. Steve Groves officiated. Music was provided by grand nephews and niece Don Pinkerton, Larry Benedict, and Georgia Pinkerton. Pallbearers were Joe Zvolena, Earl Falconer, Warren Mechelke, Jesse Zvolena, Herman Noeldner, and George Bixby. Alice Young was born January 17, 1895, in the town of York, Clark County, to Edwin and Cythnia (nee Adams) Young. She received her education at rural schools in the town of York. After school she worked at home prior to her marriage. She married Rollie Benedict January 17, 1913, in Loyal. He preceded her in death in November 1981. They had been married for 68 years. They resided in the town of York for all but a few years of their lives when they moved to Neillsville in 1977. She had worked for over 30 years as the York correspondent for the Loyal Tribune. She was a member of York Center Methodist Church, a former member of Rebekah Lodge, Clark Grange and Sew and So Homemakers Club. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one infant son. Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
