OWEN RESIDENT 34 YEARS, BURIED MONDAY

An illness caused by a weak heart proved fatal to Albert Henry Bonk, 65 years, two months, and 24 days of age, at his home in Owen, Friday evening, Feb. 21, 1941.

Funeral Services were conducted from the Griebenow funeral parlors, Monday afternoon at two o'clock, Feb. 24, with the Rev. McKeith of Medford officiating. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers at the service were Gus Braun, Harold Tietsch, Fred Hayes, Charles Pratt, Clifford Downing and Jerry VanHuizen.

Albert Henry Bonk was born on Nov. 28, 1875, in Leer, Germany. When a youth of 15 years he came to this country settling at Parketburg, Ia., where he resided but a few years, moving to Glenwood City.

While residing in Glenwood City, he met and married Augusta Neuman and raised a family of four children. In 1907, he and his family moved to Owen where he was employed as fireman at the E. W. Kidd Co. and made his home until his calling to the promised home came last Friday. .

He was a devoted Christian and enjoyed the comforts of his home and family. His greatest pastime was enjoyed during the summer months when he could have an active interest in the baseball club of the city and enjoy the softball games. He was one of the city's most ardent baseball supporters and will miss, the first call of "play ball," this spring for the first time since being in Owen.

He is survived by three daughters, Minnie Doege and Edith Holmgreen of Owen, and Regina Powell of Mobridge, S. D.; and one son, John of Minneapolis; and 12 grandchildren besides his host of friends he had made in Owen and Withee.

His wife preceded him in death in 1933.

Out of town relatives who were here for the services were his daughter, Mrs. Chester Powell of Mobridge, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Schwartz, Mrs. Albert Monson and son and daughter, and Herman Neumann, all of Glenwood City; Mr. and Mrs. John Bonk of Minneapolis; and Lawler Holmgreen of Spencer.

This obit says the Stark Family scrapbook. I would like to get in contact with someone in this family, as Albert was my grandfathers brother!

Thanks, Janice Johnson
