Zillmann, Richard (26 Jan 1876 - 9 NOV 1927)

Richard Zillmann, whose death was chronicled in this paper last week, was laid at rest in the Colby Cemetery Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, funeral services being held at the house and in the Methodist Church, Rev. Fahlgren officiating. Part of the impressive Masonic services were also held in the church on account of cold weather.

The deceased was born at Rockville, Manitowoc Co, Wis., Jan. 26, 1876, thus reaching the age of 51 years, 10 months and 17 days. He came to Colby in 1899 and has been engaged in the hardware business up until the time of his death. He was married to Myrl E. Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gray, at Colby, Wis. Sept. 19, 1902. This union was blessed with two children, Sylvia Myrl and Kathryn Anna. He died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1927, acute indigestion being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. He was always in city affairs and held the office of city clerk for several years. He was a member of the Colby Lodge F. & A. M.

Besides his wife and daughters, his departure is mourned by the following brothers and sisters: George Zillmann, Thorp; Wm. Zillmann, Kiel; Mrs. Frank Ebert, Los Angeles, Cal.; Alfred Zillmann, Kiel; and Ed Zillmann, Colby.

Those from out of town here for the funeral were George Zillmann, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zillmann and Wm. Zillmann, Kiel; Donald Zillmann, Madison; Mrs. Roland Kolb, Chelsea; Henry Harder, Medford; Mrs. Albert Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rakow and Mrs. Ray McDonald, Marshfield; Mrs. Ella Poate, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Standard and daughter Grace, St. Paul.

He will not only be missed by his family, but also by a wide circle of friends who will always remember him as a just and upright citizen, a kind husband and father and a man who always endeavored to perform his duty to God, his country, his family, his neighbor and himself.
