Harry, Peter (13 JUL 1853 - 16 OCT 1925)

Peter Harry, one of the old and respected pioneers of Clark County, Wis., and former resident of Colby, passed away at Marshfield Friday, Oct. 16, 1925, at 11:30 a.m., of sarcoma, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 3 days.

The deceased was born July 13, 1853 at Eberham, Prussia, Germany, and came to the U. S. in the year 1854 and went to Manitowoc Co., Wis. He was married to Francis Young April 20, 1873, at Two rivers. In Oct. 1877 he came to Clark County and engaged in logging, farming and stock buying. In the spring of 1901 he moved to the city of Colby, where he held the office of alderman. He was also a member of the Catholic order of the Foresters. His wife, Frances Young Harry, died Dec. 20, 1916, and, in 1917, he moved to Marshfield, where, Nov. 5, 1917, he married Anna Theisen of Merrill, Wis.

Impressive funeral services were held in the Catholic Church Monday, Oct. 19, 1925, Rev. H. Lachnit officiating, and sermon by Rev. Wm. Reding of Wis. Rapids, but formerly of this city. Interment was made in the Colby Catholic Cemetery.

He was a man of excellent habits, fine moral character and sturdy construction, and, as he always united sound sense with strong convictions, he was respected by all who knew him. He also was a man of generous impulses and had many friends here.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Elizabeth Schramm, Ill., Peter Harry, Chicago, Ill., Miss alma Harry, Minneapolis, Minn., Louis Harry, Marshfield, Wis., Emil J. Harry, Casper, Wyo., Wm. Harry, Colby, Wis., Mrs. Minnie Will, Colby, Wis., Mrs. Mary Morgan, Unity, Wis., Mrs. Rose Tennis, Unity, Wis., Mrs. Emma Groelle, Unity, Wis., Mrs. Margaret Orth, Unity, Wis. One son, Albert, died Dec. 10, 1894 at the age of 5 months.

Those from out of town who were her for the funeral were: all the children, Sisters: Mrs. Mary Westphal, Sheboygan, Wis., Mrs. Dora Schweiger, Glencoe, Ill., Mrs. Margaret Mais, Colby, Wis., Brother: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harry, Chippewa Falls, Wis. The grandchildren: Margaret and Francis Will, Minneapolis, C. Theisen, Chicago, Ill. Others attending: Charles Westphal, Sheboygan, Wis., Mrs. Wm. Westphal, Sheboygan, Wis., Mrs. Minnie Holling, Sheboygan, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Westphal and daughter, Olgoma, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Westphal, Neillsville, Wis., John Mais, Medford, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Martin Adler, Marshfield, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. George Adler of Marshfield, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mettelka, Marshfield, Wis., Volera and Emery Mettelka, Marshfield, Wis., Mrs. Kate Weire, Marshfield, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lempke, Loyal, Wis., and Paul Young, Loyal, Wis.
