Wicker, Eugene (24 JUN 1860 - 22 Augl 1925)

Eugene Wicker, one of the old settlers of this vicinity, passed away of cancer of the stomach, Saturday, Aug. 22, 1925, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of 65 years, 1 months and 29 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the M. E. Church, Rev. Lucas officiating, and interment made in the Colby, Wis., Cemetery.

The deceased was born in Washington Co., Wis., June 22, 1860, and came to this locality (Colby, Wis.) in 1872. In 1889, he was married to Augusta Eggebrecht, to which union four children were born, namely: Mrs. Wm. Beam, Richland Center, Wis., Mrs. A. M. Patterson, Medford, Wis., Delmer Wicker, Medford, Wis., and Douglas Wicker, Richland Center, Wis., all of who are still living.

Besides the children, thirteen grandchildren and two sisters and three brothers mourn his departure to the distant shore. The brothers and sisters are: Frank Wicker, Waukesha, Wis., Mrs. George Castner, Loyal, Wis., Mrs. J. F. Sims, Hayward, Cal., George Wicker, Colby, Wis., and Tom Wicker of Curtiss, Wis.

The deceased, having lived here for many years, had many friends who remember him as one who believed in the teachings of the golden rule. In temperament he was mild, conciliatory and candid.
