Frane, Elsie (5 JUN 1896 - 5 Augl 1917)

Sister Kathleen, daughter of Joseph Frane of this city (Colby, Wis.), died at Carroll, Iowa, Sunday evening at 9:30, Aug. 5, 1917, of hemorrhage of the lungs. About three weeks ago she underwent an operation for appendicitis and a lung trouble developed shortly after, as a result of the taking of anesthetic.

Mr. Frane and daughter Eva went to Carroll a week ago last Tuesday after having been notified of her serious condition and remained with her until she was considered out of danger, and were returning home when they received a dispatch at Minneapolis that she had suffered a sudden relapse. They immediately returned to Carroll, but were too late, she had passed to the great beyond.

Elsie Frane was born in the town of Unity, Clark County, Wis. June 5, 1896, and came to Colby with her parents thirteen years ago. She graduated from the parochial school in this city and five years ago went to Sparta to take a course in domestic science in the convent school conducted by the Franciscan Sisters at that place. After completing this course she chose to devote her life to the church, which she loved and entered the St. Rose Convent at La Crosse. She completed the course there and went to Carroll, Iowa, where she was to teach during the coming school term.

Those who survive her are her father, two brothers, Victor and Louis, and two sisters, Mrs. C. Joseph Kraus and Miss eva Frane, all of Colby, who were all at La Crosse to attend the funeral, which was held yesterday at the St. Rose Convent. Mrs. A. Butler of Unity, aunt of the deceased, also attended the funeral.
