Wichman, Verna (1881? - 14 Jan 1916)

Mrs. Wm. Wichman died at her home in our village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) last Friday morning, Jan. 14, 1916 at 1:15 o'clock, death being due to a number of hemorrhages.

Verna Douglas was the only Child of Mrs. M. Douglas of Plymouth, Wis., and had reached the age of 34 years. Dec. 22, 1903 she was united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Wichman, to which union three children were born. She came to Loyal with her husband and one son about six years ago and moved onto a farm in the town of Beaver.

About a year ago they moved to our village, where Mr. Wichman has been engaged in the saloon business since.

Deceased had been ailing for several weeks and about an hour before her death she gave birth to a baby boy, the little one also dying.

Seldom has it been our duty to record so sudden a death. A dark gloom spread over the whole community when it was whispered from one to another that she was dead.

She was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways, so that friendship's circle was to her a large one.

She leaves to mourn her early demise her husband, three small children, Lester, Dorothy and Grace, and her mother, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

The mother and her little son were place in a coffin together and were taken to Plymouth Saturday for burial, the funeral taking place Monday. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community.
