Renne, Lizzie (6 SEP 1847 - 8 Jan 1915)

Mrs. Lizzie Renne, who passed from earthly life on Jan. (Feb.?)8, 1915, at 3 p.m., at her home near Veefkind, Clark County, Wis., was born Sept. 6, 1847 in Ireland, coming to New York when three years of age. Her girlhood was spent in Connecticut and Ohio. She was married May 10, 1868 and made her home thereafter in Oconomowoc, Wis., until, with her family she removed to Granton, Clark County on July 3, 1879. She was married to Hirman W. Renne. During the last thirty years the family has lived in their present home.

Mrs. Renne has been in feeble health for many months, but to the last tried to perform her full duty in caring for her family. In January she suffered a stroke of paralysis, which with other application closed her life. She was the mother of six children, two of whom, Lida and Wayne preceded her to the better land. Her daughters, Mrs. Edward Calkins of Hemet, Cal., and Mrs. Ross Ives of Minneapolis, and her son, Clyde Renne of Grand Rapids, were able to be with her during her last days. Her life has always been that of a devoted Christian, having worked whenever circumstances permitted with the greatest enthusiasm for young people in the Sunday school.

In her early life her church membership was with the Congregational Church and later with the Presbyterian. Her high ideas of what was pure and true and worthwhile in life are rarely exceeded. Next to her religious faith, was her interest in the Temperance cause and it was her great privilege and pleasure to become a member of the W. C. T. U., even though her failing strength made it impossible for her to do active work. Under great and unusual trials she preserved her dignity of character, her courage and loving self-sacrifice. Her Master will welcome her, "Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord."

Rev. Anderson officiated at the funeral services, which were held at the home. Interment was in the Granton Cemetery.
