Schancer, Joseph (2 NOV 1871 - 13 Feb 1914)

Joseph Schancer died on Friday afternoon, Feb. 13, 1914, at half past four at the home of his brother, Peter Schancer, of acute tuberculosis.

The deceased was born in the town of Rubicon, Dodge County, Wis. on Nov. 2, 1871, where he lived with his parents on the old homestead until 1895, when he came here (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) with his brother and settled in the town of Loyal, until recently owned by them. They moved on a smaller farm on the outskirts of this village last November, where the deceased breathed his last.

His death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of friends and relatives. His was a heart of gold. He was one of nature's noblemen in its truest sense, brave, generous, manly. His was a soul of honor, and his friends and friendships were sacred to him.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church on Monday morning at nine o'clock and the remains buried in the Catholic Cemetery.
