Kennedy, Alice (3 Feb 1843 - 19 Feb 1905)

Mrs. Kennedy, widow of "Uncle" Jess Kennedy, who died about a year ago, followed her beloved husband to their Heavenly home on Sunday morning, Feb. 19, 1905, after a short illness of pneumonia fever. The funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday and the remains were laid to rest in the Fisher Cemetery. The terrible weather deterred a large number from attending the funeral that would otherwise have attended, however a good crowd paid their tribute of respect to a good neighbor, a kind loving mother and a good woman.

Alice Allen was born Feb. 3, 1843 at Newtown Falls, Ohio. She was one of a family of six children, three girls and three boys. When about 3 years old her father moved to the wilds of Wisconsin and settled at Iron Ridge, dodge Co., living there until in 1870 when she came west, settling at Butler, Mo.

On May 13, 1871 she was united in married with Jessie Kennedy of Pleasanton, Kan. To this union were born two children, Katy and Harry, both of whom were with the mother during her sickness and at her death.

The father preceded the mother to that great unknown, just one year and two weeks. Since his death she has continually mourned and grieved and grieved over it and as a consequence her vitality and strength were wasted away so that she could offer very little resistance to the ravages of disease. She was at all time, during her sickness, very patient and said that she had not great desire to live but that she wanted to be with father.

The end came peacefully and she is now at rest from her labors on earth. A good woman, a loving wife and a kind and generous mother.
