Slocum, Anna E. (21 JUN 1818 - 7 JAN 1905)
Another Clark County, Wis. pioneer gone. Mrs. Anna E. Slocum died at the home of her son Ernest, Saturday, Jan. 7, 1905, at the ripe age of 86. Mrs. Slocum's maiden name was Foster; she was born in Chautauqua Co., New York State, June 21, 1818, where she grew to womanhood. Her parents dying, she moved to Wisconsin with a married sister.
She was married to Mr. Slocum about fifty years ago. In May 1864 Mr. and Mrs. Slocum moved to Clark County, Wis., buying land in the town of Beaver that now comprises the farm owned by Ernest Slocum, the only child. Here in the forest Mr. and Mrs. Slocum settled, built a log house and began clearing to make a home and farm.
Mr. Slocum died twenty-four years ago, since which time Mrs. Slocum lived with her son. She was a woman of sterling qualities and highly esteemed by neighbors and acquaintances. The remains were laid to rest in the Beaver Cemetery.
