Lewis William Goldamer, 84, of 940 Snyder St., Wisconsin Rapids,
died Monday, April 7, 2003. Funeral services
will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wisconsin
Rapids. The Rev. Gary Baumann will officiate. Burial will be in
Restlawn Memorial Park with military rites provided by Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 2534. Higgins Funeral
Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Goldamer was
born Jan. 31, 1919, in Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. to Charles
and Rose (Puttkamer) Goldamer. He was united in marriage to Daila
A. Hoffman May 20, 1940, in Nashua, Iowa. She survives. He served as an
infantryman in the U.S. Army, during World War II, with the
Blackhawk Division in the European Theater participating in the
Battle of the Bulge. Before his discharge he also served in the
Philippines. Lewis was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for
Consolidated Papers Inc. from 1957 until his retirement in 1979. He
also owned and operated a drive-in and a service garage in
Abbotsford and had rental properties in Wisconsin Rapids. He was a
member of VFW Post 2534, volunteered at Immanuel Lutheran School
and Church, loved playing cards, reading, camping, square dancing,
going to fairs and just tinkering around. He is survived by
his wife, of Wisconsin Rapids; his children, Gloria (Don) Brody,
The Colony, Texas, and their children, Pamela (Keith) Rinas, Edwin
(Semra) Johnson, Kimberly (Todd) Doebler and Michael Johnson; Donna
(Lyle) Brown, Anchorage, Alaska, and their children, Scott (Julie)
Brown, Jeffrey (Susie) Brown and Susan (James) Ledbetter; Dick
Goldamer, Wisconsin Rapids; and Jean Schillinger, Wisconsin Rapids,
and her children, Jason, Joseph and Sara Schillinger;
great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jesse, Ashley, Ali, Jordan and Abi
Rinas; Samantha, Megan, Jackson and Andrea Doebler; Michelle and
Stephania Johnson; Nickolas and Jacob Ledbetter, and Brennan
Kieffer; and one brother, Albert (Jeanette), of Ocala, Fla.
