Ewoldt, Donald F. (30 May 1931 - 8 JUN 2003)

Donald F. Ewoldt Sr., 72, Greenwood, died on Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Clark County Health Care Center. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 21, at the Greenwood County Park. The body will be cremated.

Donald Fred Ewoldt was born on May 30, 1931, in Scott County, Iowa, to Otto and Hilda (nee Kleuver) Ewoldt. He was educated at Long Grove School in Scott County. He worked for area farmers after graduating from eighth grade. He married Frances Ritter on June 23, 1950, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. He began dairy farming in 1952. While farming, he also hung garage doors and worked as a carpenter. He helped start the Pleasant Valley Little League in the early 1960s and managed a team for eight years. They moved to Greenwood in 1974 and farmed there for 17 years. They sold the cows in 1988 and the farm in 1990. They then moved into Greenwood.

Survivors include his wife, Frances, Greenwood; six children and 17 grandchildren, Donald (Katie) Ewoldt Jr. and D.J., Betsy and David, Chesterton, Ind., Becky Derry, Marshfield, Chris Ewoldt and Megan, Vaughn (Jill), Jocelyn and Andy, Lafayette County, Gary (Nancy) Ewoldt and Gus, Val, Hanna, Sam and Kassey, Greenwood, Brian (Kaye) Ewoldt and Adam, Jason, Ben and Leah, Neillsville, and Lynn (Randy) Stabnow and Amber and Sarah, Greenwood; two sisters, Caroline (Russell) Backstrom and Alta (Harry) Badtrom; two brothers, Otto (Lorry) Ewoldt and Kenneth (Mary Jo) Ewoldt; his mother-in-law, Annie; 46 nieces and nephews; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Orrie, Harvey, Lester and Waldo; one sister, Irma; and his father-in-law, Gustave. Memorials may be directed to the Greenwood Ambulance Service.

The Cremation Society of Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.
