Christie, Lyle A. (22 Dec 1939 - 18 Apr 2003)

Lyle A. Christie, 63, Greenwood, died on Friday, April 18, 2003, at his home. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to a 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, April 25, at Grace United Methodist Church, Greenwood.

Lyle Arthur Christie was born on Dec. 22, 1939, in Owen, to Arthur and Gwendolyn (nee Killian) Christie. He was raised and educated in Greenwood, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1958. He married Pat Lindner on Aug. 16, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. They later divorced. He lived in Eau Claire and worked as a carpenter and then a foreman for Madsen Construction until 1981. He then worked for Operating Engineers Local 139, Eau Claire, as a heavy equipment operator. He moved back to Greenwood in the late 1980s and retired in 2002. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 139, the Greenwood Sportsman’s Association and was elected to the Greenwood City Council on April 1. His interests included deer hunting with family, spending time with his grandchildren, car shows, raccoon hunting, camping and fishing.

Survivors include four children, Scott (Shelly) Christie, Waupaca, Jennifer (Tim) Von Holt, Appleton, Joleen Christie, Los Angeles, Calif., and Jeffrey Christie, San Diego, Calif.; four grandsons, Jacob Von Holt, Samuel Christie, Nicholas Von Holt and Jonathan Christie; his mother, Gwendolyn Christie, Greenwood; one sister, Kay (Dave) Halverson, Englewood, Colo.; two brothers, Hugh (Joan) Christie, Greenwood, and James Christie, Greenwood; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding him in death was his father, Arthur, in 1986.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
