Elmendorf, Eliza J. (3 Apr 1871 - 21 Feb 1918)

Death again invaded the home of J. D. Elmendorf last week and claimed the wife and mother of that household. A son aged ten years, died about two weeks ago, and the constant vigil of the mother at his bedside, in conjunction with heart trouble, caused a sudden collapse on Thursday evening last, ending a short time later in death. Eliza Jane Alger was born at Rushford, Wis., on April 3, 1871, and died Feb. 21, 1918. She came to Thorp, Clark County, Wis. with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Alger, at the age of seventeen and was united in marriage to J. D. Elmendorf on Oct. 4, 1889. She leaves to mourn, her devoted husband and four children, Mrs. Frank Schultze of Cobban, Wis., and three sons, Bernard, Harold and Cletus, her aged mother, Mrs. John Alger, and one brother, George Alger. The funeral took place from the residence on Sunday afternoon last, Rev. Bachman conducting the services, interment following in the Thorp Village Cemetery.
