Ziehr, George (APR 1840 - 30 OCT 1917)

George Ziehr, aged 77 years and seven months, died at the home of his son, Joseph Ziehr, at Cadott, Wis., on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 1917, of paralysis. He was born in Germany in 1840 and at the age of fourteen came to this country, settling at St. Cloud, Fond du Lac Co. He was married in 1862 to Miss Gertrude Schumaker and lived at Calvery for ten years, then moved to St. Joe, where they lived for ten years. In 1882 they came to Thorp, Clark County, Wis., where they resided for twenty-five years. In 1907 he moved to Cadott, making his home there with his son Joseph until death, having resided with his son for eighteen eyars. The remains were brought here on Friday last to the home of Andrew Brunner, the funeral taking place from St. Bernard's Church on Saturday morning. He is survived by his aged wife and four sons and three daughters, namely: August of Mohall, N. D., John of Boyd, Joseph of Cadott, and Reinhard of Wild Rose, Mrs. Clara David and Mrs. Anna Brunner of Thorp and Mrs. Kate Klinzing of Solon Springs.
