Courier (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 02/22/1917 Ivey, Roland
(1910? - 19 Feb 1917) Roland, the
six-year-old son of Rev. and Mrs. A. M. Ivey, died on Monday
morning last after a severe illness (spinal bifadas) extending over
a period of three weeks. The parents accompanied the body to
Evansville for burial on Tuesday, services being held here in the
afternoon, Rev. F. Harris of Chippewa Falls and Rev. Frazer of
Colfax conducting the same. (Follow on in
3/1/1917 Thorp Courier) Rolland Ivey was
the six-year-old son of A.M. Ivey and Adaline Chapel Ivey. From
infancy the lad had suffered with spinal bifadas, but withal was a
patient little sufferer. All who came to know him characterized the
lad as "a ray of heavenly sunshine." An uncle, writing upon the
occasion of his death said, "He has proved the great loved of his
make, God." Rolland Ivey lived
more in his short span of life than the most of us who May be
allotted the full "three years and ten." His life was a lesson of
patience, in cheerfulness, in pure grit. A short service
was held at the residence of Charles Johnson, at 11:30 o'clock
Wednesday morning for the friends here in Evansville, the regular
service having been held in the home of the parents at Thorp. Mr.
Ivey is the Methodist pastor at Thorp. Interment was held in Maple
Hill Cemetery, The Rev. Golder R. Lawrence, pastor of the Methodist
Episcopal Church of Evansville, officiated. (Evansville Review) © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
