DORCHESTER - Regina C. Werner, 92, Dorchester, Clark County, Wis., died on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Saint Joseph's Hospital's House of the Dove in Marshfield.

Services for Regina will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2002, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, with Father James Schaefer celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

The former Regina Catherine Sauer was born on Dec. 25, 1910, in Medford, the daughter of Michael and Catherine (Henrichs) Sauer. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and was a 1928 graduate of Medford High School. After graduation she was employed with Lord's Department Store in Evanston, Ill.

Regina and Edward Joseph Werner were married on Oct. 15, 1938, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. After her marriage, she assisted her husband with the operation of Clover Farm Store, Dorchester, until 1950, then they farmed in the town of Mayville until Edward''s death in 1991. In July of 1992, she moved to Marshfield to be with her daughter for four months, later returning to reside in Dorchester until the time of her death.

Besides raising her family, Regina was a very active lady, sharing her motto, "Live one day at a time. Keep smiling and by doing so, we can make others smile, too, and lower stress". Regina retired in 1988 after 20 years of sales.

Regina was active in many organizations, including past president and secretary of the Ladies Rosary Society, past president of Home and School of St. Louis, secretary and treasurer for Catholic Family Life Insurance, chairperson of the Eye Bank, member of the Dorchester Senior Citizens Club where she organized the bus tours, former church choir member, trustee and president for Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, tutored and volunteered at St. Louis School in various programs including reading, math, spelling, chairperson for Dorchester Days Stunt Night for the senior citizens skits, parish Family Affairs chairperson and committee member of the Fall Dinner.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph (Carol) Werner of Rothschild and Gerald (Chris) Werner of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Phillip (Karen) Werner of Wausau; one daughter, Sister Jo Ann Werner of Marshfield; three grandchildren, Sonnet Cochenour of Mesa,Ariz., Joshua Werner of Rothschild and Carrie (Chad) Sickler of Rhinelander; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Sauer of Medford and Herbert (Donna) Sauer of Colby; and two sisters, Frances (Alvin) Guth of Rice Lake and Jeanette (Richard) Miller of Medford.

Preceding her in death were her husband Edward, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1988; her parents; infant daughter Mary; and three brothers Leo, Felix and Alvin Sauer; and two sisters, Margaret Pernsteiner and Dolores Dzik.
