Rossman, Katherine (15 Mar 1838 - 18 Augl 1919)

Mrs. Katherine Rossman, one of the oldest residents of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., died at her home in this city Monday, Aug. 18, 1919.

She was born in Germany March 15, 1838, and came to this country when a girl of thirteen.

She was married to Jacob Rossman Dec. 25, 1856, and in 1871 they came to Neillsville, which has been her home ever since. Mr. Rossman died in 1886.

To them were born eight sons and two daughters, of who only two sons survive: George P. Rossman, of Seattle, Wash., and Fred A. Rossman, of this city. She leaves also 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rossman was a woman who in her quiet way did many kindly deeds for many people. In her home were gathered not only her children and grandchildren, as from time to time they came to her for comfort and motherly care, but in her home many a stranger and those seeking for a transient rooming place, four beneath her roof the painstaking care and interest in their welfare which made it a real home for them. She died well her work, although in the death of her husband and children, she had seen much of life's sorrows.

The funeral will be held today (Thursday) at 2 o'clock at the house, Rev. G. W. Rossman officiating.
