Michael A. Perushek, 52, Marshfield, formerly of Neillsville, died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist, and St. Mary’s Adult Choir. The Rev. Woodrow Pace officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Carl, Ludwig Perushek Jr., Chuck Schlegelmilch, Lee Volp, Darren Wriedt and Bill Zilk.

Michael Anthony Perushek was born on Nov. 2, 1950, in Neillsville, to Anton and Jeanette (nee Carl) Perushek. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1969. For a short time after graduation, he worked at the Nelson Muffler Factory, Neillsville, and Figi’s, Marshfield. His lingering diabetes illness forced him to retire at an early age. His interests included following the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox, and traveling to Boston and the New England area.

Survivors include his special friend, Karen Hoffman, Marshfield; his parents, Tony and Jeanette Perushek, Neillsville; one sister, Patricia Perushek, Eau Claire; one brother, John (Tammy) Perushek, Neillsville; two nieces, Jessica and Ashley Perushek, Neillsville; and one nephew, Benjamin Perushek, Neillsville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
