Ewert, Myron A. (2 DEC 1926 - 25 Dec 2002)

Myron A. Ewert, 76, Colby, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in the emergency room of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Brett Ewert, Jacob Ewert, Clinton Ewert, Lucas Ewert, Reese Ewert, Jesse Koerner and John Sass. Honorary pallbearers were Erica Todahl, Brooke Ewert, Kendra Koerner and Katie Sass.

Myron Arthur Ewert was born on Dec. 2, 1926, in the town of Green Grove, to Arthur and Etta Mae (nee Neuman) Ewert. He married Lorraine Michlig in Abbotsford on Sept. 4, 1954. She died on Dec. 19, 1995. He married Cecil Hornick on Oct. 10, 1997. Until the time of his death, he lived for 45 years on the family farm in the town of Colby, milking cows and raising pigs. In his earlier years, he was employed with the Curtiss Feed Mill. His interests included dancing, visiting casinos, watching his children and grandchildren play softball, promoting the Atwood Athletic Field, and outdoor activities such as logging.

Survivors include his wife, Cecil Hornick-Ewert, Colby; two daughters, Diane (Gary) Sass, North Canton, Ohio, and Marie (Don) Koerner, Medford; two sons, Bill (Bobbie Ann) Ewert, Colby, and Terry (Elizabeth) Ewert, Abbotsford; three stepsons, Earl (Carolyn) Hornick, Coon Rapids, Minn., Skip Hornick, Eugene, Ore., and Darrell (Jean) Hornick, Colby; one stepdaughter, Barbara (Terry) Rahn, Zimmerman, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren; one greatgrandchild; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Melvin (Jeanette) Ewert, Germantown, and Norman (Judy) Ewert, Temecula, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Lorraine Ewert; one son, John Ewert, on April 29, 1983; and one brother, Milford Ewert.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
