Lastofka, Joseph (1846 - 28 Apr 1921)

Jos. Lastofka, one of the old residents of this locality, died at the home of his son, Martin, in this city, April 23, 1921, aged nearly 75.

He was born in Bohemia and when a boy, he came to Milwaukee. In 1876 he moved to the town of York, Clark County, Wis., where he developed a fine farm and lived till 1903, when he moved to Neillsville. His wife died Dec. 6, 1910. For more than two years his health was very poor and for 18 months past he was confined to his bed. He was a man greatly respected for his industry and honesty. He was careful to deal justly with all men and was known always as a man of his word.

He leaves three children: Mrs. Lily Peterson of Oakland, Cal.; John and Martin of Neillsville.

The funeral was held Monday at the home, Rev. W.T. Scott officiating.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. I.D. Lennie and daughter, Irene, of Eau Cliare and Mr. and Mrs. Art Galster of Alma Center.
