Wilbur, Guy E. (5 DEC 1899 - 13 Jul 1921)

Guy Eugene Wilbur, a well known and highly respected young man of this commUnity, Wisconsin, died at the Eau Claire Hospital Wednesday, July 13, 1921, after undergoing an operation for appendicitis.

Deceased was born in Greenwood, Clark County, Wis. Dec. 5th, 1899. He attended the Warner grade school, from which he graduated in 1910. He spent all of his life in and around Greenwood, and for the past five years has made his home with the Otto Wetzel family.

He was always kind and helpful and his character was such as to draw and hold a large circle of friends. He was very popular with the younger folks and the past two years has been a member of the Longwood ball team.

When the country was in need of soldiers, Guy tried to enlist but was rejected because of weak arches. Yet he was determined to serve his country in some way and enlisted in the state guard, where physical requirements were not so rigidly enforced, and of which organization he was a member of three years.

He leaves his father and three sisters to mourn his loss, his mother having died when he was but a small boy. A large circle of friends also mourns his early demise.

Funeral services were held from the Norwegian Lutheran Church last Sunday afternoon, Rev. Aaberg officiating. The church was crowded to its fullest capacity. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
