My grandfather, Walter Alvin Weaver Colby, was born in Armenia, Juneau County, and was brought up in Thorp, Clark County, Wisconsin from the age of two. I have his common school diploma from the Village of Thorp, 1909. His teacher was Lulu E. Roth. His High School diploma, which is dated 1913, lists the principal as Frank A. Powell. In the photo below, of the Thorp High School Basketball Team was taken about 1912. He is in the rear row, to the far left.
