Obit: Santala, Eugene (July 18, 1917 - April 12, 1980)

Eugene Santala, age 62, of Route #1, Withee died at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12th at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15th, 1980 at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with Rev. Douglas Groenewold, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee officiating. Burial services were in Riverside Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Earl Rusch, DuWayne Venet, Ron Buss, Rueben Hill, Ben Hill and Sylvester Multhauff.

Eugene Santala was born on July 18th, 1917 in Hixon Township and here he attended the Willowdale School, and Withee High School. He farmed in Hixon Township all his life.

He was united in marriage to Lucille Pribbernow on October 30th, 1948 in Owen.

Santala served as treasurer for Hixon Township for the past eight years.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Patricia) Mengel, Withee, Mrs. Michael (Shirley) Johnson of Greenwood; his mother, Mrs. Hilda Santala, of Withee, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
