Stevens, James (21 Sept. 1932 - 13 Jan. 1997)

James Stevens, 64, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at a Madison hospital after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie. Rev. Dr. David Beggren officiated.

James Stevens was born on Sept. 21, 1932, in Chippewa Falls, to Stanley and Iva (nee Nelson) Stevens. On July 1, 1950, he married Ella Olsen in Loyal. Jim "The Barber" owned and operated Jim’s Barber Shop in Sun Prairie for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie.

Survivors include his wife, Ella; four children, Kai (John) Trygstad, Andover, Minn.; James (Lynn Anderson) Stevens, Viroqua; Eric (Cynthia) Stevens, Andover, Minn.; and Scott (Sarah Shella) Stevens, St. Cloud, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Christain, Andrew and John Jr. Trygstad, Erick, Caleb and Micah Stevens, and Issac Shella Stevens; one sister, Kathleen (Rodelle) Scheel, Sun Prairie; two nieces, Rochelle (Joseph) Guastella, Sun Prairie, and Jennifer Scheel, St. Louis Park, Minn.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
