Schade, Serena (19 Feb. 1926 - 20 Dec. 1996)

Serena H. Schade, 70, of 1600 Arlington St., died at 10:45 p.m. Dec. 20, 1996, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. The Rev. Mark A. Krueger, pastor, will officiate. Music will be provided by Ilse Bradtke, organist, for Kim Lutze, soloist.

Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery in the town of Colby, Clark County. Serving as pallbearers will be John Leick, James Leick, Jermy Leick, Barrett Mientke, Eric Schade and Bruce Felix.

Visitation will from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and again on Saturday until 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel and then from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

She was born Feb. 19, 1926, in Colby, to Karl and Minnie (Franz) Sabler. She was married to Elroy V. Schade on Nov. 3, 1946, in Colby.

Mrs. Schade was educated in Colby elementary schools and graduated from Colby High School in 1944. After her education, she worked with her parents who owned and operated a grocery store and ice cream parlor in Colby.

After marriage, the Schades resided in Colby for four years. In January of 1951, they moved to Milwaukee. In 1960, the coupled moved to Brown Deer where they remained until retirement. They them moved to Marshfield, residing here since. During their years in Milwaukee, Mrs. Schade was employed by a pharmaceutical firm in sales and later by a printing company.

The Schade enjoyment was fishing, card playing, traveling and their cabin in Tomahawk. Mrs. Schade was ever so grateful for a good life, a wonderful marriage, her three children and her four grandchildren, all of whom filled her with pride.

Her survivors include two daughters, Deborah Mientke and Pamela (John) Leick, both of Marshfield; one son, Michael (Janet) Schade of Cedarburg; four grandsons, Barrett Mientke, James Leick, Jeremy Leick and Eric Schade; and her sister, Dorothy (Merlin) Schjoneman of Colby.

She was predeceased by her husband on Oct. 29, 1996; and by her parents.

Memorials May be designated in Serena Schade’s name to Christ Lutheran Church or to the Marshfield Medical Research & Education Foundation for cancer research or to St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit.
