Mills, Ada T. (14 NOV 1853 - 24 Jan 1932)

Mrs., William Mills died in Marshfield on Sunday morning Jan. 24, after an illness of nearly two months.

Ada T. Heath was born Nov. 14, 1853, at Warsaw, Wyoming Co., N.Y. She came when quite young with her parents to Sheboygan county where she grew to womanhood.

On Nov. 13, 1878 she was married at Newport, Ill., to William Mills. Four years later they came to Clark County and purchased a farm just west of the village where they lived until 1909, when they moved to the village of Loyal. Since 1926 their residence has been in Marshfield, where Mr. Mills died Aug. 30, 1927.

The deceased is survived by one son, Heath, one daughter, Della both of Marshfield, four grand children and one sister, Mrs. Anna Williamson of LaSalle, Utah, besides other relatives.

Mrs. Mills had a large circle of friends who knew her for a home loving woman of sterling worth, a faithful mother, loyal friend and a practical Christian character. She was interested in everything for the betterment of the community and especially in the work of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, of which she was the first president of the local Union.

She was one of the first members of the Birthday Circle which was organized about 30 years ago and many times during meetings the members were privileged to listen to poems from her ready pen but not only then, but on other occasions, Mrs. Mills showed her personal interest in affairs and her poetic ability by producing poems for the occasion.

The funeral services were held at the Loyal M. E. Church at 3:00 P. M. Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Clarence E. Weed of Marshfield officiating, assisted by Rev. W. N. Grandy.

The beautiful floral pieces showed the esteem in which the departed one was held. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Loyal cemetery.
