Geiger, Arthur M. (16 Aug. 1916 - 12 June 2005)

DORCHESTER - Arthur M. Geiger, 88, Dorchester, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. The Rev. James Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Arthur's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester. There will be a combined parish and Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary at 7 p.m.

Arthur was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Dorchester to Joseph and Minnie (Whitman) Geiger. Arthur and Rose Decker were married Nov. 10, 1936. She died June 15, 2000. They farmed in the town of Little Black, Taylor County, from 1936 to 1971, when they moved to Dorchester. He also did cement work from 1956 until he retired in 1986. Arthur was a former supervisor on the town of Little Black, Dorchester Village Board and Pleasant View Cheese Factory board and served 20 years on the Dorchester Tractor Pull Committee. He also served on the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery board and served as sexton. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Arthur is survived by his children, James (Sharon) Geiger of Abbotsford, Rita Motte of Dorchester, Tom (Betty) Geiger of Stetsonville and Gary (Jaycine) Geiger of Dorchester; 17 grandchildren, Brian (Kim Tischendorf) Geiger, Cathy (Doug) Meyer, Debbie (Pat) Kilty, Todd (Wendy) Geiger, Pam (Mark Reigert) Motte, Cindy (Dan) Hoffman, James "Charlie" (Kristy) Motte, Jean (John) Brost, Michael (Michelle) Motte, Lisa Motte, Julie (Dave) Becker, Scott (Jennifer) Geiger, Ann (Terry) Lake, Doug (fiancee Tanya) Gieger, Matt (friend Dace) Geiger, Erin (fiancee Dave) Geiger, and Melissa Geiger; 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Irving Geiger of Dorchester; and one sister, Adeline Heindl of Dorchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose; one sister, Elizabeth Kauer; three brothers, Bernard, Sylvester and Clarence Geiger; and one great-grandchild.
