David J. Ampe , 52, Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at home with his loving wife by his side. Private burial services will be held at a later date.

David J. Ampe was born on Oct. 21, 1952, in Madison, to Arthur and Gretchen (Kurth) Ampe. He moved from Madison to Greenwood in 1958, where he attended school. He lived in Florida for many years. He moved back to Wisconsin in 1987, to be with his love, Alice Dillingham. They were united in marriage on May 29, 1999, in Juneau. He began driving semi in 1990 for a Madison trucking company, purchasing his own rig in 1995 and driving for Comdata. He enjoyed playing pool, listening to music, and spending time with family, friends, and his cats. He was also a huge Packer fan and enjoyed all sports.

Survivors include his wife and friend, Alice, Beaver Dam; brothers and sisters, Beverly (Willy) Wehrman, Loyal, Jean (Howard Hasz, Fitchburg, Ardis (Jeffrey) Hempel, Madison, Dianne (Robert) Harms, DeForest, Donald (fiancée, Carol) Ampe, Janesville, and Gary (Mona) Ampe, Tacoma, Wash.; a very special mother-in-law, Roxie Dillingham, Poynette; two pets, Michael and Muffin; many other relatives; and a lot of great friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and step-mother, Edith Ampe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials May be made to the family. A special thanks you to Finley Industries for their understanding which made it possible for Alice to spend more time with David. Also, we would like to thank all the medical staff for their help during David’s illness.

Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Centers, Madison, is assisting the family with arrangements.
