ATTACK FATAL TO DR. HARRY HOUSLEY

Heart Ailment Takes Life of Former Clark County Man Friday

(written in pen on original obituary, "Apr. 2, 1948)

Neillsville - Dr. H. W. Housley, 62, former Clark County coroner, died Friday at the Mendota State Hospital where he was employed. A heart attack was responsible for his death, according to a telephone message received here.

Dr. Housley had practiced medicine in Clark County for 30 years before leaving this city about six years ago to accept a position as physician in the state institution.

Born in Lincolnshire, England on May 5, 1885, Harry William Housley came to the United States when he was 11, two years after the death of his father. He made his home with an uncle in Sheboygan County, where he attended grade and high schools, and later entered Lawrence College at Appleton to study for the ministry.

An accident in which he was kicked by a horse so impaired his voice that he abandoned thought of the ministry and turned his attention to medicine, obtaining his degree at Marquette University. He took post-graduate work at Minneapolis and Chicago.

He was married on Oct. 26, 1912, at Plymouth, to Miss Edna Parrish. After their marriage they moved to Chili, Clark County, where they lived for six years before moving to Granton, and in 1926, after having spent eight years in Granton, they came to Neillsville.

Dr. Housley is survived by his wife and one daughter, Edith. He was a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows, and Modern Woodmen. Funeral arrangements have not been announced here.
