Truax, Nettie (16 NOV 1856 - 5 Feb 1931)

Mrs. Nettie Truax, a pioneer resident of this corner, passed away on Thursday evening at 10 o’clock at her home which is being rented by her son Earl. She had been in good health and she and her daughter-in-law had been making quilt pieces all day. She went to bed about 8 o’clock and a short time after was taken sick. A doctor was called but she was gone before he arrived.

Nettie Truax was born at Orevell, New York, Nov. 16, 1856 and passed from this life Feb. 5, 1931 at 10 o’clock in the evening.

She was married Jan. 18, 1872 to Alonzo Truax at Millington, New York. They came to Spencer shortly after they were married, where they lived until after the death of their son Perl, who was killed in an accident 10 years ago. They then moved to Loyal and bought a home there, where they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Jan. 18, 1922. They lived there until after the death of Mr. Truax two years ago. Since that time she made her home with her children.

Seven children were born to them, one daughter Almyra, dying in infancy. Perl was killed 10 years ago and 5 are left to mourn her loss namely: Fanny, Mrs. Louis Miller of Abbotsford; Albert, Lemon, S. Dakota; Clifford, Boyd, Wis., Nelson, Spencer, Wis., and Earl on the home place. She also leaves 16 grand children to mourn her loss, besides one sister and one brother.

Mrs. Truax was a member of the Loyal Royal Neighbors, who attended her funeral. She was a friend of everyone in this community and her belief was "a friend in need is a friend indeed". When there was sorrow and trouble in a home she was there to help and was a neighbor that will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held at Spencer at the M. E. Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock and burial was in the Spencer Cemetery.

The flowers were carried by her 4 grand daughters, Valda and Grizella Truax and Nettie and Myrtle Miller. The pall bearers were Mr. Joe Motchenbacher of Loyal, Gust Schell, Frank Catlin, Martin Engel, Otto Prechel and Wm. Hubert.

All of her children were present for the funeral services.

---By Coles Corners Cor. The Tribune joins the many friends of the bereaved in offering their heartfelt sympathy.
