Vogel, Anna (28 AUG 1858 - 31 Jan 1931)

Mrs. Anna Vogel, wife of Charles Vogel, lately, passed away at her home on Saturday morning, January 31, 1931, the victim of an acute heart attack. The attack came quickly, as she had visited with neighbors on Friday afternoon.

The funeral ceremony was conducted on Tuesday morning of this week at the Catholic Church, with the Rev. A. J. Aurit officiating. A great many friends and relatives were present to mourn her loss, as she was always an active church member. Her final resting place is in the Catholic Cemetery.

Anna Rump (her maiden name) was born in Manitowoc County in the town of Kossuth on August 28, 1858. On April 25, 1877, she was married to Charles Vogel who preceded her in death six years ago. After their marriage they lived for some time in Hewett. About forty years ago they came to this community. Mr. Vogel worked as a carpenter until he was overtaken by illness which caused his death.

The mother of a family of 18 children, eleven of whom are now living, she certainly is to be congratulated for her steadfast obedience to her duty. Four children died as infants; John was killed by a falling tree; Thomas died after a local factory explosion in 1919, and Frank died 3 years ago. Of the eleven remaining children, 9 were able to be present at the funeral, the distance being too great for two of the daughters.

She leaves to mourn her loss, eleven children, seventeen grand children and nine great-grand children. The children are: Charles, George, Henry, Matthew, Joseph Louie, Mrs. George Phipps, Mrs. Lee Clouse all of Loyal, Mrs. Will Welsh of Wibeaux, Montana, Mrs. Harry Robinson of Ismay, Montana and Mrs., Kate Scheel of Colby, Wis.

ON 2/19/1931 A SIMILAR OBITUARY WAS PRINTED. ADDED INFO BELOW The deceased was a member of the Catholic Knights and the Ladies Altar Society.

She leaves to mourn her loss her only living sister, Mrs. Joe Lox of Manitowoc.

Fifty relatives and friends were present for dinner Tuesday (Feb. 3) at the home of the deceased. Among those present were the following people from who attended the funeral: Mrs. Joe Backhouse, Silver Lake, Wis., Mr. Henry Lox, Mrs. Clarence Lox and Mrs. Anna Bauer, Manitowoc, Wis., Mrs. J. W. Sadlane, Francis and Leonard Sadlane, Cadott, Wis., Mr. Bert Pape, Unity, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. John Neubauer, Misses Grace and Fransis Neubauer, Medford, Wis., Mrs. Lida Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. James Vogel, Mrs. Irvin Budtke and son, Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Otto Scheel and children, Colby, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Hastings Baird, Granton, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
