Schmitt, Victor Paul (28 April 1919 - 8 May 2005)

ATHENS -Victor Paul Schmitt, 86, formerly of the town of Johnson, Athens, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Continental Manor in Abbotsford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Maurina/Community Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

He was born April 28, 1919, in Colby to Edward and Anna (Ewan) Schmitt. He and Rosemary Moros were united in marriage. The couple farmed in the town of Johnson and Victor was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Francis Melvin, Inc., of Abbotsford until retiring in 1998. Rosemary died April 1996.

He is survived by his sons, Bruce (Karen) Schmitt, Clayton (Mary) Schmitt and Alan (Karen) Schmitt, all of Athens, and Barry (Judy) Schmitt, Independence; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Winifred (Adam) Kwiecinski, Evanston, Ill., and Marcella (Myles) Krueger, St. Francis; and three brothers, Clarence (Marge) Schmitt, Cedarburg, and Alex (Ardis) Schmitt and Floyd (Grace) Schmitt, all of Ripon.
