Hagen, Barbara (9 AUG 1888 - 5 JUN 1957)

Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. - Funeral services were held at the Bergemann Funeral Home at 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Gustave (Barbara) Hagen, former town of Weston, Clark County, resident, who died June 5, 1957 at her home in Long Beach, Calif.

The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the town of Weston Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Loren Frank, Ferd Hrach, Lebrecht Kalsow, William Lueck, Alvin Meihack and Herman Schoenherr.

The hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross," were sung by Mrs. Virgil Holmes and Miss Carol Peterson, with Mrs. T. N. Thompson as accompanist.

Coming from out of town for the services were Gustave Hagen, Long Beach, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Peter Spranger and family, Mr. and Mrs. James O’Brien and Donald Strege, Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Weis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Dimler, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dillenbeck, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Dimler, Greenwood; and Mrs. and Mrs. Alfred Garbisch, Granton.

The former Barbara Hapfel was born Aug. 9, 1888, in Hungary and came to this country at the age of 17 years, settling in Chicago, Ill. After her marriage to Gustave Hagen, the couple came to Clark County and lived on a farm in the town of Weston until 1937, when they returned to Chicago. For the past six years they have made their home in California.

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Peter (Rose) Spranger, Loyal; and three grandchildren. One son, John, and a daughter, Anna, preceded her in death.
